Eek! The Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine closed in June!

Those of you who follow turquoise will recognize that Sleeping Beauty is long recognized as the cleanest, purest color out there, and has long been a favorite of collectors. In Europe, this turquoise is usually set in GOLD because of it's color and value!


Paul Deasy just talked abou it. The mine is owned by a copper company who doesn't see enough yeild of turquoise coming out right now keep mining. It won't reopen unless someone comes along with a multi million dollar deal, and the recent yields just won't make this likely.

I know nothing in the gem world lasts forever, but this is almost heartbreaking.
